About The Moorish American Institute

The Moorish American Institute (MAI) is a private, mission-driven nonprofit educational organization organized under the laws of the State of Ohio. Established in 1975, MAI is dedicated exclusively to the study, preservation, and dissemination of knowledge relating to Nationality-identity, Moorish history, culture, law, science, mathematics, language, and human development through education, research, publication, and community engagement.

MAI exists to advance learning by developing educational programs, conducting scholarly research, publishing instructional materials, preserving historical and cultural knowledge, and providing opportunities for students of all ages to pursue lifelong learning. The Institute seeks to foster intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, historical literacy, and academic excellence within a respectful and inclusive learning environment.

As a nonprofit educational organization, MAI operates in furtherance of its mission rather than for private financial gain. Tuition, publication sales, donations, grants, and other lawful sources of revenue are used to support and expand the Institute’s educational programs and operations.

The Moorish American Institute’s physical address is located at 816 Lakeview Road, Cleveland, Ohio 44108; however, it is not open to the public. The Moorish American Institute is where the masters are, like Shaolin Temple, like The Moorish Science Temple Of America. The Moorish American Institute’s interactive course is available online. Why Does The Moorish American Institute Focus On Nationality?

Nationality Education is the foundational and primary purpose of The Moorish American Institute, Because knowing who you are changes everything.

Men, women, and children who understand their history, culture, values, and responsibilities are better prepared to navigate the present and build the future. Knowledge of Self is not merely information—it is the foundation for confidence, discipline, purpose, and meaningful contribution to the world around us.

The Moorish American Institute exists to help students explore their identity, study history and culture, examine philosophical traditions, and develop the intellectual discipline necessary to grow as informed and responsible members of society. Through structured lessons, reading, research, discussion, and reflection, students are encouraged to become lifelong learners who think critically, ask meaningful questions, and pursue knowledge with sincerity and dedication.

Our mission extends beyond individual education. A stronger family, neighborhood, and community begins with individuals who are committed to improving themselves. When you strengthen your mind, you strengthen your ability to serve others, solve problems, preserve knowledge, and contribute positively to the generations that follow.

At The Moorish American Institute, education is a journey of discovery. It is an opportunity to study the past, better understand the present, and develop a vision for the future. We encourage students to cultivate discipline, integrity, wisdom, and a commitment to personal excellence.

Whether you are beginning your journey of learning or seeking to deepen your understanding of Moorish History, Culture, and Traditions, the Institute provides a place for serious study, thoughtful conversation, and continued intellectual growth.

The path to changing the world begins with changing yourself. Your family benefits. Your community benefits. Society benefits.

Build your mind. Discover your history. Develop your discipline. Help make your community better—beginning with you.
