This Lonnie’s Blog comes via continuation of a conversation between me, Lonnie Bray EL, and one looking for light. The following two videos are different. I posted the first, thinking I didn't need the second, but some people did, so here it is.
QUESTION 1
You said: In order to become recognized as a Moor, one must be recognized by a group of Moors with an established government. Then this: There is no Moor Emperor, or central government for Moors, Los Moros, or Moorish Americans; there are several local Indigenous Moorish American governments, independent, not responsible to a higher authority.
ANSWER 1
Yes, documents exist for you, templates, or you may create your own, if you know how. I can’t responsibly just hand you some paperwork and say, here fill this out. You’re an adult. You have to know what you’re doing and there are steps that must be taken and one step at a time.
What you want to do first, STEP 1 in Status Correction: Proclaim your Nationality.
Make your Nationality your foundation, on which to build, or everything you build is vulnerable to collapse due to an unsound foundation.
Once you correct your Nationality, your identity with your own People is established. Moors everywhere, though they all may not be under the same umbrella, must recognize you.
STEP 2: Correct your identity beginning with local government, progressing to federal government. Go to your city hall and file for title correction, name correction, or name change, if you have to. You only add EL, or Bey to the end of how your identity is written now, dropping the middle name and Jr. or Sr., because those are Christian codes.
My Friend, don’t panic, because I know all the steps and I’ll share them with you. Also, don’t panic, because you can’t complete all of the steps in one day anyway.
I want you to be able to make informed decisions. The Moorish Science Temple Of America is recognized as an Embassy for Moorish Americans. The problem is that there are three main Moorish Science Temples Of America, the Edward Mealy EL Lineage, the C. Kirkman Bey, Lineage, and the Charles Givens EL Lineage. They all believe and teach drastically different methods and ideologies, especially about proclaiming Nationality, not just what it means, but methods to proclaim Nationality and status correction, or lack of. For example, one Moor group’s method is to become Naturals within the United States Of America, claiming that they are from Africa across the Atlantic, that they are not Indigenous to America, or that they are Indigenous to America, but foreign to and without the United States Of America.
Also, there are several other Moorish Science Temples Of America and that’s a good thing. Why? Because Noble Drew Ali taught that each Moor is The Temple and may conduct business through, with, and as The Moorish Science Temple Of America, if one is Indigenous to America, according to the teachings of The Moorish American Institute. You will find for example, and I hope I’m making this up and this one doesn’t actually exist -- The Moorish Science Temple Of America Temple XYZ -- the last part (XYZ) to personalize, distinguish, and enable commerce.
For a Nationality requirement, one needs connection and claim to National religion. Some Moors follow Prophet Mohammed from across the seas. Some Moors open churches and preach Jesus in delivery that may not seem to violate Moorish principals. Some Moors open churches and hide Astrology behind it, or in their upper rooms, literally. I don’t know how many of these I’ve met. Some Moors are Buddhists. And to all of it, why not? Doesn’t violate Moorish teachings, even those coming from Noble Drew Ali, as evidenced by the reverse side of Nationality cards for The Moorish Science Temple Of America.
Some Moors teach Astrology and Math as ISLAM. For example, The Moorish American Institute teaches Astrology as ISLAM, because according to Charles Mosley Bey, that’s what Noble Drew Ali instructed him to do and to do it Cleveland, Ohio, which is the light I received. Never the less, Noble Drew Ali is the glue of the religion of Moorish Americans. No matter what form a group Moors shapes Noble Drew Ali and His instructions into religiously, Noble Drew Ali is the foundation and glue of Moorish Americans. As you may have heard and will hear, ‘If the Prophet aint right, the Temple aint right.’
In your Temple, the Prophet must always be right, or the religious claim of divinity is weakened, maybe destroyed. I don’t care if you believe in a religion or not, you strengthen the position of Moors if you say that you do. Again, for some ISLAM is Astrology. For others ISLAM is Islam the religion. And yet for others, Islamism, not ISLAM, is the religion to follow.
There are so many ways to go with becoming recognized as Moor, or Moorish American that one’s path is up for pick and choose. If you think your feet are in mud now, some Moor, or Moorish groups will have your head in mud with faulty, jackass paperwork, written by people who are not good researchers, or writers, but people without necessary educations, or knowledge of Law, for example. Never the less, you need to learn from more than one source, so that you may reference, cross-reference, and draw conclusions on your own.
I’m not a holy man, or a leader. I’m really just a simple teacher. I can’t save you, neither can some paperwork someone just hands you. You have to know law, history, and more and Moor’s places in it all, what it all means and be able to defend it. An education is what it takes to save yourself and only you can. Then you may teach others to do the same. You absorb and step one step at a time, just like learning and mastering anything else.
Depending on how fast offices push paperwork, you should be able to get everything done within six months to one year. But, Young One, it’s all in the books, “The Book Of Moors,” “Nationality Keys Of The Moorish American Institute,” that you have there with you already. If you cross-re ference, you’ll see that most of what I’ve done here is just rewrite the book, “Moorish American Nationality Keys,” for you, but I said some things in different ways. As pupils, we all need that sometime, things to be said different ways. As a teacher, I know that, so I’m patient. Therefore, you can be like Taimak in “The Last Dragon,” but sooner or later, you must realize that, when it comes to you, you are the master. No one else will ever be your savior from legal and lawful slavery.
I caution you against chasing after any sovereign-worded approach to anything dealing with Moors and Nationality. A Nation is sovereign. That’s given. A Nation’s ruler is The Sovereign. Citizens of a sovereign nation are citizens. All citizens of a sovereign Nation are citizens, not sovereign citizens, as if a title ranking better than citizen. Citizen of a sovereign nation simply means you are a legal member of a country that is recognized as independent. For example, a Canadian citizen is part of the sovereign Nation of Canada. That citizen’s rights and responsibilities are defined by that nation’s constitution and laws.
Sovereign citizen: In the US Of A and similar countries, this term usually refers to an ideology or movement where individuals claim they are not subject to government laws or authority, even though they live within the country’s borders. Governments do not recognize this as a valid legal status, often associating it with legal misunderstandings and, in some cases, law enforcement issues. So, Yes — you can be a citizen of a sovereign nation. No — that doesn’t make you a “sovereign citizen” in the political-activist sense. Your, or a Nation will still see you as subject to its laws and jurisdiction.
Therefore, 1) The argument for Indigenous Rights outweighs the Sovereign Citizen argument. 2) Sovereign Citizens go through a Naturalization, or Tribal process, not a Nationality process. For example, some claim that Ali, EL, and Bey are tribal, not National identities. Beware. 3) Law savvy pale European Americans developed the Sovereign Citizen Movement to escape their own demise through investing and participating as Whites with privileges in government, but no Rights as Humans. Their's is a claim to a right to remain on the land America, because they’ve worked it, a claim they would make to any Indigenous, or occupying government. 4) Sovereign Citizens are labeled by the FBI as terrorists.
QUESTION 2
Is there a Moorish government does it have lawful recognition from US government as nationals or sovereign like other native Americans nations?
ANSWER 2
Let’s first address, “like other Native American Nations.” How many claim to be a member of a Native American Nation? The question can be rhetorical so we can move on to this: I think you mean to ask about Indigenous Peoples, which is not most people’s claim. Native is fine, means one was born on the land; yet, does not mean the Oldest, or First People. One who is Indigenous to a land is also Native to that land. However, one who is Native to a land is not necessarily Indigenous. What we have in America as being confused with Indigenous Peoples and Indigenous Claims are people claiming to be Indians, like from India, and tribes, without claims to Indigenous status, or to America.
Some groups now recognized by the US Of A had the wording, “Nation,” and “Indigenous,” in their original treaties; yet, now have accepted and become recognized as Indian Tribes. They have accepted Christianized and Anglicized versions of themselves.
Seminole is a Nation that has been more recently described in legal contexts as a tribe. Never the less, original treaties describe Seminole as a, “Nation.” Cherokee are several and they are all tribes. Cherokee is a Christian word. What is the Moor and original word for Cherokee? If you do, in fact, have “The Book Of Moors,” then you have information to answer this question.
You don’t want to describe your Nationality as anything black, such as Black Seminole, because that identity, well, blackens itself and because Black Seminole, like Moorish American, is not recognized by the US Of A as a Nation. Why then chose to be recognized as Moorish American? Moorish American is a Human identity with claim to Nationality. Black was never a Nation. Moor and American are. The most important concept of Cherokee, Seminole, Creek, and others is that they are lesser Nations, Clans, and Tribes who may be described as Indigenous American under the umbrella National term, Moorish American, a term which includes so many who lost their true identity due to slavery in America.
One may accept being called whatever the term of the times is for so many of our People, Black, Negro, and whatever, or one may choose the Nationality, Moorish American, which admits, Hey, I may not know exactly what my mother’s or father’s people called themselves her in America, due to slavery; however, I know that we are Moors and Indigenous to America. The fact that one claims to be American Indian states that one doesn’t have true identity, but has accepted a Christianized/Anglicized version of themselves. Moorish American is the version of Moors Indigenous to America, which so many have chosen and are choosing.
The Moor Nation
The Moor Nation is global and recognized by Pyramids as our National Landmarks. Neither Cherokee, Creek, or Seminole have claims to building Pyramids. However, one who researches will find Ali, EL, and Bey along with Moor and ALLAH within these Peoples’ personal names, other names, and geography.
Therefore, my answer to Question 2 is, No, not like them and I elaborate: The United States does recognize people who identify as Moorish American — but only in the same way it recognizes anyone else as a U.S. citizen or lawful resident, is the wording. However, learned Moors and several others know that Moors, Blacks, Negros, African Americans, Colored People, and People of Color can’t become U.S. citizens, per the ruling of Dred Scott v. Sandford, 60 U.S. (19 How.) 393 (1857). You will hear it argued that the 14th Amendment changed this; however, the 14th Amendment was never ratified, meaning made Law by the necessary amount of states, per Article VII of the Constitution. Hence, Blacks, Negros, and everyone without a Nationality claim are willing cattle property and Moors face opposition at every turn, because to recognize Moors is to put US Of A central power in jeopardy. The more you know, the more you may come to see the actual matrix that we all live in.
HERE’S HOW MOORISH AMERICAN WORKS LEGALLY IN US OF A LAW
As An Ethnic Or Cultural Identity
One is free to identify as Moorish American under the U.S. Constitution’s protections for religion, culture, and free expression. The government doesn’t forbid that. In fact, the First Amendment protects it.
As A Legal Or Political Status
The U.S. government does not recognize “Moorish American” as a separate sovereign nationality that exempts a person from U.S. laws. People claiming to be “sovereign citizens” or not subject to U.S. jurisdiction because of Moorish heritage have consistently lost in court.
Regarding Citizenship Documents
The government will list “Moorish American” in some contexts (such as self-identified race/ethnicity on a census or form), but official nationality remains United States of America unless you formally renounce citizenship and are recognized by another Nation.
In Short
The US Of A recognizes Moorish American as an identity, but not as an alternative to being under U.S. law or citizenship.
The US Of A government does recognize Moor with the US Of A Center For Disease Control National Race Code, 667. American is there too. However, the Moor Nationalities, Moorish American, Los Moros, Morisco, Sephard, and Mouros, for example, do not; yet, we know those are all Moor Nations. No one is denying that we, All of us, People with melanated skin, are Moors, as the Roman Empire agreed and labeled all Moors as Mauri. Mauri, Moor, same thing.
Solid, Citable Us Of A Sources That Show How “Moorish American” Is Treated
U.S. case law that provide clear, authoritative insights into how courts have treated “Moorish American” claims—particularly those that assert sovereign immunity or escape from U.S. jurisdiction:
1) Courts: identity is respected; “sovereign” legal claims are rejected.
United States v. Benabe (7th Cir. 2011): This landmark appellate decision explicitly dismissed sovereign citizen arguments—regardless of the form they take, explaining that: “Regardless of an individual’s claimed status of descent, be it as a ‘sovereign citizen’, a ‘secured-party creditor’, or a ‘flesh-and-blood human being’, that person is not beyond the jurisdiction of the courts.” A more detailed court analysis confirms these arguments have, “no conceivable validity in American law.”
2) Bey v. Stumpf (D.N.J., 2011)
This District of New Jersey opinion doesn’t mince words when characterizing the “Moorish American Nation” and related groups: “such organizations as the Moorish American Nation and [similar imaginary creations, like] the Nation of Washitaw, are notorious organization[s] of scofflaws and ne’er-do-wells who attempt to benefit from the protections of federal and state law while simultaneously proclaiming their independence from and total lack of responsibility under those same laws.”
I know these Moors’ arguments and I agree with the court’s decisions. Pay attention, Moorish American Nation is a particular group, not one representing all Moors. Same with Nation of Washitaw, or Nation of Washita Moors, as there are more than one branch, yet, neither represent all Washita, or all Moors. These are people who forego shields and weapons of actual education and instead arm themselves with redundant, already defeated law and legal approaches mixed with religion, claims to the Throne of The Moor Empire, and spaceships and with that, enter courtrooms as Defendant.
3) Murakush Caliphate of Amexem, Inc. v. New Jersey (D.N.J. 2011): A federal court in New Jersey dismissed filings relying on Moorish-sovereign theories and surveyed similar cases rejecting them.
4) Citizenship Is Defined By Federal Statute, Not By Self-Declared Nationality
8 U.S.C. § 1401 (INA § 301): Lists who is a U.S. citizen at birth (e.g., born in the U.S. and subject to jurisdiction). There’s no separate legal nationality recognized for “Moorish American.” Yet, there is. See City Of Chicago and City Of Philadelphia, for example, who have recognized Moorish American Nationals. However, federal courts overrule local government.
5) El-Bey v. Menefee (N.D. Ala., 2014)
Here, the court flatly rejected claims that Moorish ancestry or documents derived from it could confer immunity from prosecution:
“Nothing in the Treaty of Peace and Friendship or in any other document, statute, or treaty cited by EL-Bey supports his position that his self-proclaimed Moorish, Moabite, or Moroccan heritage legally alters his citizenship or nationality or excuses him from complying with the laws of Alabama or the United States.” “Petitioner cannot unilaterally bestow sovereign immunity upon himself.”
Part of winning in Law is the less you have to prove, or disprove, the better. Therefore, the easier case to prove has the fewest and only necessary points. One does best to state things simply. If your goal is to prove that you are a Moor, then you do best to only include points that work toward proving Moor. If you word your argument so that in order to win, you must also prove that you are a Moabite, Moroccan, Canaanite, Egyptian, Jew, and extra-terrestrial, then you unnecessarily and highly complicate your case. One step at a time may mean only one step is necessary.
In essence: U.S. courts consistently hold that people who identify as Moorish American are subject to U.S. jurisdiction like anyone else, meaning, “sovereign citizen” style arguments don’t work in Law.
6) Ethnic/Religious Self-Identification Is Protected And Can Be Recorded
The U.S. respects “Moorish American” as an ethnic/religious identity (you can call yourself that, organize, worship, and write it on forms). U.S. Census practice: Federal surveys allow people to self-identify detailed race/ethnicity using check-boxes and write-in fields; updates since 2020/2024 emphasize collecting more detailed self-descriptions (which can include identities like “Moorish”. This is about identity data collection—not legal nationality. (However, it is about Nationality, if you make it so by crossing out the words Ethnicity, race, and religion and replace it with the word Nationality. This action gets recorded and is one way Moors can fight to be recognized as Nationals).
Other qualities of ethnicity which match qualities of Nationality are genetic heritage, belief in shared descent, use of the same language, or distinct dialects that reflect a group’s heritage and worldviews, shared practices, celebrations, rituals, and social norms, including foods, music, dress, arts, and moral codes passed through generations, use of Flags, clothing, Emblems, hairstyles, or other symbols that represent the group’s identity, and sometimes linked to shared faiths.
Qualities of ethnicity that do not match with qualities of Nationality are the influence and considerations of outsider’s perceptions, positively or negatively, as distinct and identity-reinforcing for outsiders. Nevertheless, ethnicity is mostly about Nationality, so don’t be fooled by choosing the designation, ethnic, for your body, if you’re striving to become a National.
The U.S. does not recognize “Moorish American” as a separate sovereign or legal nationality that changes your obligations under U.S. law. Courts have rejected those arguments repeatedly and you must comprehend that, in order for the US Of A government to maintain central control of its power, land, resources, including People, and all, this finding is most feasible. However, it contradicts with the US Of A Department Of State’s effort to fight statelessness, because “Moorish American” is an alternative to statelessness.
QUESTION 3
What about just claiming to be American, or True American?
ANSWER 3
Great idea. I wrote a section of a book about that. The book is titled, “Moorish American Nationality Keys: Of The Moorish American Institute.”
QUESTION 4
I'm still confused. What, do we set a date and time to have the Nationality Ceremony?
ANSWER 4
Yes. You should seek a Moorish Science Temple Of America.
RESPONSE TO ANSWER 4
THIS IS ALL THE WAY OUT I reached out to temple 19 here in ATL and they said they don't. “We do not engage in or promote freedom from the U.S. corporation processes, paperwork, or legal filings of that nature.” They are just a religious organization and I'm not really one down for religion although Buddhism most resonates with me. I read in your books that Buddhism is recognized as a Moor.
Yes, Buddha is recognized as a Prophet on the reverse side of Moorish Science Temple Of America Nationality cards. That’s why the Buddha Da Moor, Founder of Shaolin Temple and Shaolin Martial Arts, is so important in my life. I practice Da Moor Buddhism, which means Shaolin Kongfu, exercising, keeping my mind, body, and spirit clean. That’s my way, not something I promote in anything other than by example. I’m almost 60 years old, so if say, “Look at me,” and you look my body over. Then I say again, “Look at me,” and I say, “Look at me again, Look at me,” about three more times to get you good and focused, then when I say, “Now look at you,” you look at you and laugh, then maybe Da Moor Kongfu is something to respect as a Moorish Tradition of continuous self-improvement. One step at a time.
